Hi kids,

Amidst everything that’s been happening in the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, I have rediscovered hobbies and I feel the unnecessary need to share it with all of you.

For me, this is week four-ish of my self-quarantine. It has been 28 days since I last saw my friends, since I last drove to school, since I last went to church, since my graduation got canceled and a bunch of other sad things happened.

Sure, everyone's a little disappointed right now, but if staying home means I can help flatten the curve and help my community in not spreading a deadly virus, there's no reason why I shouldn't be doing it.

SIDE NOTE: I know there are a lot of people during this time that do not have the privilege to stay at home, so I’m just mentioning my personal thoughts. People who need to work to support themselves and others, just know that I see you and I pray for your safety and wellbeing everyday. (Side note: Let me know how I can pray for you, yeah?)

Anyways, when I left the newsroom on March 11, I had no idea I wouldn’t leave the house again. As I drove home, I awaited any news updates from college officials about any precautions they were taking to put students (me) at ease about the imminent COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic in San Diego County.

For the next few days, I spent hours scrolling through news feeds, emails and social media posts to look for what next update I’d be posting. The scrolling took an insane toll on my anxiety and for the first time since my first night alone in a dorm, I couldn’t sleep.

I woke up the next day with a clearer mindset and reported on the news that our campus had transitioned all classes to online and other distance formats.

This only proceeded to get weirder day by day, but I think I'm coming to terms with it now.

So here I am on day 28 of my self-quarantine, deciding to be productive and start a blog. Let me tell you, I have tried this many times before and every time I try, I think that just maybe this time I’ll get it right.

Spoiler alert: I never do.

So if you're wondering if I was inspired by the 2009 blockbuster film Julie & Julia where a young woman starts a blog and tries to recreate and complete over 500? Recipes in one year from a famous cookbook?

I'd say you're crazy... but you're not.

Just kidding.

Not really...

Truth is, I'm bored and I like a lot of things. Ever since I started college a few years back, I’ve lost all connection with hobbies (although my career is something I LOVE to do and it’s definitely my #1 hobby). I also know too much about a good range of topics and it's probably why I want to be a journalist.

Also, my mom asked me to put all the cool recipes I make in one place, so here we are.

I feel like I should tell you a little bit about me before I kick this whole journey off.

  • I am 21 years of age

  • I’m an ENFJ

  • I am Catholic

  • I'm a Journalism Major

  • I like playing Webkinz and Animal Crossing (literally, do not come at me for this, I need to re-embrace my childhood, okay?)

  • I’m fluent in memes, sarcasm and a lil Spanish

  • I am the second eldest of five children

  • Sometimes I like to rant about random things I’ve learned (especially about the Environment and Greek Mythology…)

  • I have a playlist for everything… And I mean everything

  • I am really ambitious and determined, so people think I’m a Slytherin but I’m really just a dynamic Hufflepuff

  • Honestly at this point my entire personality is based off all the personality Buzzfeed quizzes I took in high school.

  • I was voted most likely to win a Pulitzer in Middle School (straight flex)

  • Once learned that everyone who does this (blogging, autobiographies, etc..) has to be at least 50% narcissistic, so I'm embracing that

So this is where we're starting... with a simple, hello world! Haha, that’s gross…

Anyways… I hope you will enjoy my potential future content here.

Stay safe and wash your hands kiddos!
