"It's Your Voice, It's Your Right": Gen Z on voting

In the midst of a pandemic, social distancing, online education and a heated political climate, a young generation is rising up to encourage others to vote.

Generation Z, young people born between the years 1996 and 2015, will make up one out of 10 voters in the upcoming 2020 General election.

This generation, despite a majority of them being underage and unable to vote, has taken to social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and even TikTok to address political views, presidential candidates, and governmental change.

Baylee Robinson, a high school sophomore, addresses the lack of education surrounding the electoral system and voting in today’s classrooms.

First time voter Zoe Brozyna, 18, shares why voting in this upcoming election is pivotal for young people.

As a DACA recipient, 21-year-old Nancy Morales’ legal status prevents her from voting in elections. She explains how policies and laws being voted on this year can affect her legal status in America.
